Na Gaeil Óga Coaching Recruitment Policy

All Coaches, Mentors and Trainers (hereafter referred to as Coaches) should ensure that young people and children benefit significantly from our games by promoting a positive, healthy and participatory approach in our work with underage players. While developing the skill levels of each player, Coaches should encourage enjoyment and fun and ensure meaningful participation in our games and activities. Coaches should always remember that they are role models for the players under their care.

Coach Recruitment

• Every volunteer must be a member of Cumann na Gaeil Óga and have signed the Code of Conduct.

• All Coaches, Mentors and Trainers must have completed a background check before taking up the role. (GAA vetting services are available to anyone over the age of 16 who has a role where he/she is responsible for children or vulnerable adults. A parent/guardian consent form (NVB3) must be as part of any application from 16-18 year olds)

• Confirmation of mentors: All mentors (new or already with us) must receive confirmations every year from the Committee.

• All Coaches, Mentors and Trainers must have completed a child protection course before taking up the role.

• All Coaches, Mentors and Trainers must have completed at least a basic coaching course.

• Once you have been recruited by the Club, it is the Committee's duty to provide the appropriate support.

All Coaches working with young people and children must be suitable for their role(s), and should have appropriate training, qualification and support to fulfill those roles. All the people will be working in those roles participate in appropriate recruitment and selection procedures and attend coaching and training courses related to their roles. ​
